Good Works - Youth Work Camp
The Good Works work camp is designed to provide youth with a meaningful service experience. In addition to accomplishing much needed repairs on homes, they also interact daily with the homeowners and their neighbors and friends. It is a double-edged ministry - we minister to our homeowners with our work and fellowship and they minister right back to us with their sincerity and gratitude. Projects are chosen to provide sufficient work so that all participants will be meaningfully involved.

Dates & Location
The Summer Youth Work Camp is held every year in Coatesville, PA.
The 2011 camp has openings available for the week of July 31- August 6.

For Whom
Students entering 9th through 12th grades.

$260 per person

A deposit of $50 per person is requested with the completed registration form. Any registrations received after 2/25/11 will be awarded on a space available basis. The deposit is nonrefundable.

Final Payment
After receiving your registration form, a packet will be sent with more detailed information. Your final balance is due on or before May 7, 2011.

Adult Supervision
Each youth group should provide at least one male and one female leader who stay overnight. If the group is three or more work crews, it is helpful for the youth group leader to be free to visit all groups and help where needed. The youth pastor/leader is required to stay overnight to oversee his/her group.

Work Crew Size
6 - 10 people, including at least two adults

Work Crew Leaders
Each church will provide Work Crew Leaders for each of their crews. The WCL's job is to coordinate the repair work and bring the youth and homeowner's families together during the workday.

Opportunities for church members to assist the youth during work camp
If there are adults in the church with skills in general home repair who would like to help but cannot commit for the entire week, please invite them to join the youth during the day. The additional technical assistance is always welcome!

Work Schedule
Each work crew works at a home for the entire week (Monday-Friday), from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Each work crew must have a vehicle to transport them and the tools needed to the worksite each day.

Some tools/equipment should be provided by each youth group for each of their work crews. A list will be sent to all Youth Leaders prior to the Work Camp.

Good Works Support
We provide building materials, dumpsters, trucks to transport the materials, and an expert technical staff for advice on the repairs. This staff is comprised of local carpenters and professional contractors who love the Lord. Each project may have a full-time advisor or share one with another crew, depending on the scope of the repairs to be done.

Groups sleep and eat at a local church. Breakfast and dinner are prepared by the Good Works cook. Groups are asked to help with meals by setting the table, cleaning up, and washing dishes. Bag lunches are prepared by the youth and taken to the worksite. At the end of each workday, the youth are given an opportunity to shower at the Brandywine YMCA.

Evening Programs
These programs are planned, organized, and supervised by the Good Works Staff. The discussions and activities have proven to be an important part of the total Work Camp experience.
