The Area Agency on Aging (AAA) provides for the physical, social, & emotional needs of the senior citizens of Erie County through informal and formal supports that enable seniors to make informed choices, to be safe, to remain independent, and to be involved in the community. A small co-payment is required for some services. These services, provided through the mandates of the Older American's Act, are designed to respond to those seniors remaining active and involved in their community, being cared for in their home where they feel comfortable, requiring placement services, and requiring protection and advocacy. Care Management provides an in-depth evaluation of client needs and the facilitation of the most appropriate services and monitors those services and the person's individual service. Services Include: Home Support - assistance with laundry, light housekeeping, meal preparation, and grocery shopping. Meals on Wheels - provides hot noontime meals to predominately homebound older adults delivered by volunteers. Sack meals are available for evenings and weekends determined by the service plan. Adult Day Care - subsidized day care which provides a structured, secure environment with daily activities and programs. Personal Assistance Services - provides or assists an individual with such needs as bathing (tub, bed bath, shower), washing hair, grooming, shaving, nail care, foot care, dressing, skin care, mouth care, and oral hygiene through a consumer directed approach. Home Support - assistance with medicine, personal hygiene, nail care, hairdressing, picking out coordinated outfits, help with getting dressed or applying makeup. Home Health - registered nursing services not covered by Medicare may be covered in the home short term and for medication distribution. Medical Supplies - assistance with medical supply needs.
