Lancaster-Lebanon IU13 - Community Education (Adult and Family Literacy)
- Adult Basic Education (ABE): helps adults acquire the knowledge and skills they need in order to carry out daily responsibilities at home, in the community and in the workplace. Each adult has an individual learning plan based on their individual learning goals that helps guide day-to-day instruction. Students learn at their own pace with support from professional adult educators.
- English as a Second Language (ESL): Non-native speakers of English can build vocabulary, writing, grammar and communication skills by interacting meaningfully with learners from around the world. Free classes are available to permanent U.S. residents.
- Family Literacy Classes: Helps parents get the skills they need to be the first, and most important, teachers of their children. Children and parents learn together through the four components of the program: adult basic education, early childhood education, parent education, and Parent and Child Together (PACT).
- General Educational Development (GED) Classes: Preparation classes to help students successfully complete the five sections of the General Educational Development Test: Writing skills, Social Studies, Science, Literature and the Arts and Math. Instructors will design a specific course of study for each individual and help them determine when they are ready to pass the GED examination. Classes are available at many locations throughout the two counties.
- Workplace Essential Skills: Offers job seekers and incumbent workers specialized instruction to help meet career goals. Multimedia instruction is available via the web, video or through traditional classroom instruction.
-Employer Services: The Workforce Education Program offers employers a vast array of services related to work-based foundation skills. Staff work with an employer to determine employee basic skill needs, develop specialized curricula and deliver targeted instruction. In many instances, public dollars are available to help employers address the basic skill needs of their workers in the workplace.
