Lawrence County Department of Public Safety - Local Emergency Planning Committee
Develops an emergency plan to prepare for and respond to chemical emergencies. An emergency plan must include the indentiy and location of hazardous materials, procedures for immediate response to a chemical accident; ways to notify the public about actions they must take; names of coordinators at plants; schedules and plans for testing the the plan. Appointed by the Statement Emergency Response Commissions (SERCs).

The LEPC meetings are scheduled six times per year and notices of these meetings are publicized through newspaper announcements.
