Lifesteps, Inc. - Lifesharing
In the Lifesharing through Family Living program, individuals with intellectual disabilities reside in the private home of a host family. This residential living option offers individuals with disabilities the opportunity to live with a family or individual who will support his / her desires and goals. The individuals live and share life experiences with support persons known as a host family. The host family treats the individual(s) with intellectual disabilities as another member of their family, even though they are not usually related. The host family provides food, shelter, personal care, transportation, and comprehensive supports to one or two individuals. In exchange for this service the host family receives: a tax-free stipend, ongoing training, assistance with problem-solving, resources, respite, and regular visits for support.
