Montgomery County Emergency Services - Crisis Intervention
Our Crisis Intervention Department provides services for individuals experiencing psychiatric and/or drug/alcohol emergencies. Experienced crisis workers provide telephone support, referral information and comprehensive assessment. Our crisis services are intended to help individuals feel empowered to stabilize their lives. We offer comprehensive psychiatric assessments and make recommendations for inpatient or outpatient treatment or finding appropriate resources. Our services are offered over the phone or in person. Crisis workers and a psychiatrist meet with an individual and conduct a comprehensive assessment. When appropriate, a nurse practitioner or psychologist will be made part of the assessment team. Any individuals with medical conditions are assessed by a physician’s assistant or psychiatrist and may be referred to a local general hospital for further evaluation/treatment. After each evaluation, clients and families are given recommendations that may consist of: - Referral to the MCES Inpatient Program - Referral to another inpatient facility - Referral to a private psychiatrist and/or community outpatient program - Referral to the MCES Outpatient Program - Referral to a medical hospital for treatment of any medical conditions - Referral to the Crisis Residential Program - Referral to the MCES Mobile Crisis Intervention Service
