Legal Services
Provides free civil legal services to low income individuals and families without the means to hire a private attorney. Provides representation to survivors of domestic violence in Protection from Abuse (PFA) proceedings. May provide direct representation, advice, assistance in self-representation, brief service, limited legal assistance or referral to a private attorney (including free and reduced-fee), depending on case. Provides community education on legal topics.

While NLSA does not provide assistance with Veterans' Benefits, they can provide legal assistance to eligible veterans who are having problems with their housing, utilities, or other issues within NLSA's priorities.

Eligibility: Income based: Grants change so it is best to call to determine financial eligibility for a particular type of legal service. Gross income for most services must be at or below 125% of the Federal Poverty Level. There are never income guidelines for those seeking Protection from abuse.

Intake Procedure: Applications on-line at at any time are preferred by using the Get Legal Help link.

Calls or walk-ins are also accepted.
