Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP) - Philadelphia
Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP)
Provides critical, intensive early literacy, school readiness supports to prepare underserved children for school and life success. PCHP works with families with children 16 months old to 4 years of age by providing trained community-based Early Learning Specialists, who are linguistic or parents and children together. The Program provides twice-weekly home visits, a minimum of 92 visits over the two-year program cycle and 46 books and educational toys, which are curricular items for each family, to build language, literacy and learning-rich home environments. PCHP also connects families to other needed supports, including housing, medical and educational services. All PCHP graduates are assisted in enrolling in high-quality preschool programs. Research shows that 84% of children who participate in PCHP as two and three-year-olds graduate from high school.
