Intake Procedure: To apply for housing and supportive services at Penn Villa, interested applicants need to call Penn Villa directly to request an application. Call either 215-453-5166 or 267-404-5877. At that time, Penn Villa's preference for adults with major mental illness with be discussed with the interested party, and the persons name and address obtained for US mailing of an application. Applicants may complete the application themselves or may have assistance from family or professional supports. Penn Villa's receipt of the application secures the applicant's "place in line" on the application list.

Applicants will not be scheduled for an interview until their name is closer to the top of the list, but they may receive letters checking their continued interest in remaining on the list. When an applicant is contacted to schedule an interview the financial and identification documents which are needed will be reviewed with them. In addition, either prior to or during the interview, the process of obtaining necessary psychiatric and medical records will be reviewed.

The interview is a combination of learning about and touring Penn Villa, and providing information about one's psychiatric, residential, medical, and vocational history. In addition, a pychosocial assessment is completed to determine the applicant's support needs. The interview information and obtained records are reviewed with an Admissions Committee to determine if the program can meet the applicants needs, and if the applicant meets the program's admission criteria. If the person is accepted by the Admissions Committee and the anticipated opening has occurred, a move-in date will be arranged."
