Discrimination Legal Assistance
Handles complaints of discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, place of birth, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, familial status, age, handicap/disability, use of a support animal, status as a victim of domestic violence, and gender identity/expression in the areas of employment, housing, and public accommodations. Also provides training regarding civil rights and responsibilities.

Intake Procedure: Call, email, or fill out the Inquiry Form online. If the Commission has jusisdiction, an intake interview will be scheduled.
Intake Requirements: The complaint should be prepared to include:
  • Details about where and when the discrimination occurred
  • A short description of the discriminatory incident or on-going issues.
Fee Amounts: Services are provided free of charge.

Helpful Tips: The office is also able to do intakes on behalf of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) for complaints of employment discrimination outside of the City of Pittsburgh.
