Providence Center - Teen Leaders Program
The Teen Leaders Program is a mentoring program that is a critical intergenerational aspect of the After School Program increasing the individual attention given to the children. The teen leaders provide individualized assistance to the children to complete their homework, develop social and emotional skills, and act as role models for the children. Additionally the young women and men are offered the opportunity to think about their own educational and career goals. The Leaders are paid an hourly wage for their work, which provides needed income for themselves and families and provides an alternative to at-risk behavior. Enrichment activities are offered to The Teen Leaders that include setting educational and professional goals and receiving help applying to college.
