Salvation Army Harrisburg Capital City Region Worship and Service Center - Christmas Assistance
Provides toys and clothing for children up to age 17, senior adoptions and holiday food assistance for adult households who qualify in our service area.

Eligibility: Pre-tax income does not exceed 185% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (click here for details).

- Household = all individuals living at the same address

- Documentation uploads of identification, residency, and income will be required

1. Identification for each member of the household (Social Security cards NOT accepted):
- Adults (age 18+): Photo ID or Birth Certificate
- Children (age 0-17): Birth Certificate or Medical Card



2. Official Proof of Head of Household & Residency: Choose one of the following:

Current lease, utility bill (not older than 60 days or a Compass print-out (not older than 60 days), with the head of household’s name and current address



3. Income Verification: for each individual in the household with income for the past 30 days

- Pay stubs, bank statements, unemployment, retirement, pension, child support, Social Security benefits, Welfare benefits, Compass print-out, etc.



4. Gift Information for each child (ages 0-17 yrs. at time of application):

- 1 want, 1 need – gift/need ideas approximately $30 - $50 each in value

- Correct Clothing Sizes – shoe, shirt, pant

Intake Procedure: FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN UNDER 18: This year, the family application process will be hybrid with On-Line Applications and In-Person Document Review. Please, review eligibility criteria in this flyer, then if you are eligible, visit https://calendly.com/tsa-harrisburg/christmas-application-appointment to begin the process by scheduling an in person appointment. The appointment schedule will open on Wednesday, September 15th, for appointments to be held October 4th – October 26th. Please only complete this form ONE TIME per household.

Once your appointment is scheduled, we will email you separately a link to complete the on-line application. In this email, you will receive a one-time use code that you will need to start the on-line application along with detailed instructions. Please allow 2 full business days to receive your code before calling our office. The Online Applications open Wednesday, September 15th. Please complete the on-line application prior to your in-person appointment.



SENIORS, 60+, with no children in the household: Call our office beginning September 15th to schedule a phone application or an in-person interview (717.233.6755). The on-line application will not work. Appointments begin October 4th and are first-come, first-served.



ADULTS (18 - 59), with no children in the household: Call our office beginning December 1st to schedule an appointment for holiday food assistance (717.233.6755). The on-line application will not work. Appointments are first come, first served.

Helpful Tips: Please do not apply for Christmas Assistance with more than one community organization.
