STEP, Inc. - Medical Assistance Transportation Program Lycoming County
MATP is a service available to Medical Assistance consumers in Lycoming/Clinton counties. MATP sponsored consumers ride at no charge when being transported for an approved medical purpose and to a medical provider that accepts the PA Access card. MATP is responsible for providing the most cost-effective, appropriate transportation service available to meet the need. Consumers may be directed to use a privately owned vehicle (with mileage reimbursement), River Valley Transit (fixed route) bus, or scheduled to be picked up by a STEP van or taxi.

Intake Procedure: The Lycoming County Assistance Office (570-327-3300) should be contacted for assistance eligibility. To use STEP Transportation for MATP purposes, you must register with STEP Transportation, 570-323-7575.
Helpful Tips: If you need a ride to a medical appointment or service, call as soon as possible. For regular appointments and Geisinger appointments, you must call before 12:00 pm (noon) at least 1 business day in advance. All out-of-county and Lewisburg appointments must be scheduled 3 full STEP business days in advance. For Urgent Care needs, if the consumer has been informed by the medical provider that they must be seen by a medical provider within 24 hours, the doctor must call to verify the medical situation. An escort may ride at no charge if the consumer is under 18 years of age, or if the doctor verifies the need for assistance. When scheduling, be ready to provide the date and time of your appointment, your destination, and how long the appointment will last. Please tell them about any special needs, such as an escort, or if you need accessible transportation due to a temporary or permanent disability. They will arrange for the most cost-effective, most appropriate way of getting get you to and from your appointment that meets your needs.
