Via of the Lehigh Valley - The John E Walson Center Via Adult Training Services
The John E. Walson Center at Via provides educational, social, cultural and wellness activities for adults with disabilities. Participants in this adult training program spend a portion of their time at our facility in Bethlehem, combined with opportunities to explore the community. The John E. Walson Center at Via introduces individuals to recreational activities and cultural events with the assistance of Via Community Inclusion Specialists. In addition, activities like cooking, nutrition, physical exercise, and cognitive skills development are integrated into our daily schedule to promote wellness and encourage social interaction. The John E. Walson Center at Via is a place for people to engage as independently as possible in the activities and experiences offered so they may be included in their communities and peer groups. The John E. Walson Center at Via is an Adult Training Service licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Public Welfare. Facilities maintain compliance with Title 55 PA Code, Chapter 2380 Regulations for Adult Training Services. Eligibility Requirements Adults, 18 years of age or older with developmental needs who require assistance to meet personal needs and perform basic daily activities are eligible for admission. For example, an adult:
-who has a physical disability, such as blindness, deafness, or visual, hearing, speech, language or motor skills impairment
-with mental illness
-with a neurological disability, such as cerebral palsy, autism or epilepsy
-with intellectual delays
-with a traumatic brain injury
