The Mission of the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children is to nurture the unique abilities of individuals with blindness and visual impairment through educational excellence and a lifetime of learning. The School offers a full range of exceptional individualized educational and therapeutic services for toddlers, school-aged children, and adults from 33 counties in Western Pennsylvania. WPSBC also provides support and resources to families and the community.

Eligibility: Legally blind children ages 3 - 21 from Western Pennsylvania.

Note: Legal blindness is among the criteria for admission to the School. In addition, our students have other disabilities such as intellectual disability, cerebral palsy and hearing impairment. Some of our students are considered to be medically fragile.
Hours: Office: Weekdays, 8:00am to 4:00pm
Day students attend Weekdays, 8:15am to 3:15pm
Residential students spend five week nights at the school

Intake Requirements: While the School accommodates requests from families to learn about the programs we offer, parents are encouraged to speak directly with representatives of their local education agency (LEA) to learn about placement options.
