Children and Youth Services investigate situations where there are concerns that children are being neglected or abused. Abuse can be physical, sexual, or emotional. It also includes children who are at imminent risk of harm. Neglected children are children who are without proper parental care or control, subsistence, education as required by law, or other care or control necessary for their physical, mental or emotional development; children who have been abandoned by their parents; children who, while subject to compulsory school attendance, are habitually and without justification truant from school; children who have committed acts of habitual disobedience of the reasonable and lawful commands of their parents; are under the age of 18 and have committed a delinquent act..
