New Directions The New Directions Program started in January 2010 with a grant allocation from the Moody's foundation. The Program is a free academic skill building and recreational program offered by Charles A. Melton Arts and Education Center. The Mission of the New Directions program is the following:-To help children in elementary and middle schools practice academic skills through tutoring and homework assistance.-To assist students in developing socialization and coping skills and in developing a positive self-image.-To build relationships between students, counselors, and parents to insure the attainment of each students goals.-To provide trips for incentives and the reinforce classroom learning. The Program runs through the school year on Monday-Thursday, from 4:00-6:00 PM.
