Ombudsmen work to improve and enhance residents' quality of care and quality of life. Ombudsmen provide education about resident rights guaranteed under law to consumers, their families and staff. Ombudsmen encourage self-advocacy first and empower consumers and their families by providing information to resolve concerns. They also work with residents to resolve individual issues involving long-term care services if residents are unable or unwilling to speak for themselves.
