Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English as a Second Language (ESL)
The Franklin County Literacy Council IU12 offers free help to low-literate adults to develop basic literacy skills to meet educational, employment, and personal goals. Literacy Council tutors provide one-on-one or small group help in areas of Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English as a Second language (ESL) for reading, writing, speaking, math, pre-GED, citizenship, and literacy skills needed to gain or improve employment opportunities. The Franklin County Literacy Council is a non-profit organization and is part of Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12 and is funded through the State Department of Education, the Franklin County United Way, and other benefactors. FCLC is a referring agency for the Distance Learning Project sponsored by the PA Department of Education, Bureau of Adult Basic and Literacy Education.
