BBF collects in-kind donations of medical, educational, and humanitarian supplies to ship to countries and communities across the globe who are in need of these resources. BBF accepts donations of durable medical equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs, and hospital beds, school textbooks and other new or gently used school supplies, personal hygiene items such as shampoo/conditioner, soap, adult diapers, and feminine hygiene products, and monetary donations.

    • Programs for Children: Provide donated school supplies and backpacks in August for students' Back-to-School needs. Summer Kids Food Bag Program provides bag lunches during the summer months. Please call to sign up.

    • Life Skills Training: Educational Classes will presume after COVID-19 crisis.

    • Emergency assistance: Homeless, elderly, abused, or disaster-related situations are handled on a priority-need basis.

    The School District of the City of York holds many events throughout the year to bring together students, families, staff and the community.

    The following is scheduled:
    BACK TO SCHOOL RESOURCE FAIR

    Saturday, August 17 from noon to 4 p.m. at Penn Park

  • Along with a backpack giveaway, a variety of activities and entertainment will be provided for the children.

    • Activities include face paintings, a bounce house, basketball drills and a splash pad. The YWCA York's Temple Guard will perform.

    • Donations of backpacks and school supplies will be accepted until Saturday, July 27, at the following locations:
      York City Hall, l01 South George St.
      State Rep. Carol Hill-Evans' office, 50 E. North Street
      The Underground, 683 E. Market St.

    • Sunday, Aug. 18, participating barbershops and salons in York City will provide children with free haircuts at their locations.

      FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IS: August 20th for grades 1st through 12th and August 21st for Kindergarten
