Some townships and municipalities in Lancaster County have contracts with the Humane League to provide dog control. Stray dogs apprehended by dog wardens which are found in municipalities not having a contract with the Humane League will be taken to other shelters for care and to be held the required 48 hours. There is a listing of shelters where wardens will take dogs under these circumstances on the Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement web site.
