United Way of Chester County - Days of Caring
Each year, United Way of Chester County celebrates the annual Days of Caring with a week of community based volunteer projects. Typically held in late October, this week-long series of service projects helps local nonprofit agencies accomplish tasks that might otherwise go unfinished. This added assistance allows agencies to preserve resources for service delivery to families in need. Days of Caring is a United Way program introduced to Chester County in 1996. In that inaugural year, the organization welcomed 42 volunteers and performed 6 community service projects, with an increase in volunteers and projects every year since. Projects include construction and maintenance at non-profit agencies, distributing information regarding fire safety, database analysis, therapeutic swimming with disabled youth, serving meals to seniors, gardening and landscaping and trail maintenance at local parks, and many more! Volunteers are always welcome. This is a great opportunity for individuals to get involved or a group representing a local company to encourage corporate responsibility. Specific skills are not necessary to be a valuable part of this amazing program. Days of Caring volunteers often receive a FREE T-shirt, hat or other gift for their efforts, along with the satisfaction of having made a hands-on difference in their community.

These volunteers are engaged on a year-round basis to work on addressing our Impact Areas. United Way of Lancaster County
For over 90 years United Way of Lancaster County has helped make change happen across Lancaster County by providing opportunities for community members to give, advocate, and volunteer. United Way’s Community Impact Fund focuses donor investments that address the underlying causes of the County’s most serious problems and work to achieve four bold goals. By 2025, United Way is marshalling resources so that (1) Every child will enter kindergarten ready to learn, (2) All adults will have the necessary post-secondary credentials they need to get a good job, (3) We have decreased poverty by 50%, and (4) Everyone has access to a doctor, dentist, and mental health professional. In addition to offering a 2-1-1 information and referral service, a volunteer center, and free tax preparation services for low income workers, United Way fosters collaborations between nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, schools, faith-based groups, businesses, and government. United Way and its supporters create lasting change in Lancaster County, achieving results that no single organization or sector could accomplish alone.
