Center for Autism - Treatment Programs - Northeast Philadelphia
Treatment Programs are a comprehensive assessment provided for each client's unique plan, which is designed to reduce the symptoms of autism. Treatment focuses on clients' communication, interaction, change and transitions, behaviors and responses, social competencies, and sensory processing. The Center measures an individual's progress through objective and continual observation and assessment. Through treatment, the Center's experienced therapists teach clients how to build relationships with significant people in their life, and learn skills that will help them succeed.

The following treatment programs are available:
-Pre-K (2 to 5 years old): an intensive treatment program for children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. This program is held Mon - Fri 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
-Frist Friends (up to 6 years old): a half-day treatment program for children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder primarily focused on improving socialization and communication. This program is held Mon - Fri 8:30 am - 11:00 am then from 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm
-Social Competency (6 to 15 years old): an afternoon program designed to facilitate social skills and competencies in children and adolescents. This program is held Mon - Thur 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
-Individual Outpatient (all ages): one-on-one and group therapy provided to individuals with autism and their family. Clients typically attend weekly to work on developmental needs and build upon strengths.

Offers Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy coaching for parents of children with autism throughout northeast Pennsylvania. ABA is a type of therapy that helps improve communication and social interactions, develop new skills, and support positive behavior. Families have two options. They can receive a free consultation with a therapist who can provide interventions and strategies to manage behaviors and increase engagement. For families wanted more training, multiple sessions of individualized coaching working one-on-one with an Easterseals ABA therapist. Sessions extend beyond the parents to include other caregivers in the child’s life like siblings, grandparents or sitters. All meetings and coaching sessions are done through a secure online platform using videoconferencing. The program is provided at no cost to families thanks to funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Home and Community-Based Autism services are provided to children ranging in age from early childhood to twenty-one, using a tiered approach.

For pre-school children, Friendship House offers an intensive behavioral intervention home-based program that focuses on increasing basic learning and language skills.

For school-aged children, interventions may include Direct Service Professional support in school, to help the individual learn appropriate adaptive behaviors and decrease behavioral symptoms that may impede learning. In addition, home programming may also be a component of a child’s treatment plan. Home programming for school-aged children typically involves increasing daily living, and socialization while also decreasing maladaptive behaviors. Other individuals on the Spectrum may benefit from interventions that are based in the community in which they live to encourage and utilize services/resources available to all of members of our society.

NEXUS students are be grouped according to academic achievement, language ability, learning capacity, and relational development. Providing a membership that is comprised of individuals with ASD and those who love them. We provide members, families, caretakers and professionals with support and information pertaining to the latest interventions and educational practices, therapies, and available programs for individuals with ASD.
