Adams County Office for Aging
Aging Service
Provides wide range of services designed to work with clients to thrive in the home environment best suited to their needs. Assessment of need is done through our office and we work with volunteers and subcontractors to deliver appropriate service. Some of the services are:
  • Home Delivered Meals A meal is provided to functionally disabled, home-bound or convalescent people age 60+.
    • Personal Care Service Provides personal grooming help - bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting and transferring.
    • Respite CareProgram designed to provide relief to the primary caregiver. Eligibility and hours will be determined in the assessment process.
    • Chore Service Minor home repair may be possible when safety and necessary upkeep is required.
    • Lifeline Alert Services Personal response system to help people live independently. 24 hour monitoring.
    • Protective Services Reports of abuse can be made by calling 717-334-9296 or 800-548-3240 24 hours a day.

    Employment Services
    Offers a variety of individualized services to both youth and adults with disabilities and employers. Those seeking employment can receive assistance with: resume preparation, appropriate completion of job applications, job interviews, training assistance at the job site, counseling for job related concerns, transportation training, and follow up services to ensure that the individual is satisfied with their job and meeting the expectations of the employer. AHEDD also helps SSA beneficiaries to understand how earnings will impact government benefits as they move toward greater independence.

    Eligibility: Programs currently operated by AHEDD target in-school youth (at least 14 years old) as well as adults with varying types disabilities. The basic criteria for individuals referred to AHEDD are that they must have a documented disability that interferes with his/her ability to secure and maintain employment and be interested in working within the community.
