The Arc's Vocational Services provide meaningful and gainful facility-based work experience to individuals participating in the Adult Training Facility. Work opportunities and assignments include outside contracts with various community

Assists consumers in finding jobs that fit their interests and needs. Provides on-the-job training while helping make necessary accommodations for each individual. Patnersr with local school districts to teach job skills and employment-related social skills to help students transition from school to work.

Lessie's is operated by trained individuals with physical and/or developmental disabilities. These individuals learn all types of planting skills through our greenhouse supervisors and program specialist.

A vocational training program, which serves individuals with developmental and/or acquired disabilities. Individuals receiving vocational services through Habilitation, Inc. are eighteen years of age or older. The primary goal of the program is to assist each employee to reach their optimum level of vocational functioning, with the result leading to employment in the competitive work force.

Provides an integrated environment, encouraging personal growth and independence for each individual. This enables our employees to pursue and strengthen their self esteem, self worth, and pride they will need to work in the competitive work environment.

Supplemental Employment
Habilitation, Inc.'s competitive employment division provides services to individuals who are interested in being competitively employed in the community. Our job coach assists with education of the job search process, assessments of skills and preferences, and employment maintenance.

Customer Service & Sales
Habilitation, Inc. operates 3 retail locations: Serendipity, Valley Treasures, & Expressions. Employees interested in working in a retail location receive training on retail operations. All training is individualized with the emphasis on developing a skill set necessary to acquire competitive employment in a retail setting.

Food Services
Habilitation, Inc.'s Kitchen provides culinary training for employees interested in the food industry. Employees learn food service regulations, how to accommodate to dietary needs, and other skills necessary to work in a culinary setting through the preparation of daily meals for other employees and catering opportunities.

Custodial Services
Habilitation, Inc.'s custodial services offer individuals opportunities within Avenues locations as well as at sites throughout the community. Employees interested in this career path receive individualized training on all aspects of custodial and janitorial services. Various shifts are available Monday through Friday as well as weekend opportunities.

Horticultural Services
Habilitation, Inc.'s Lessie's Garden Greenhouse & Gift Shop provides a variety of opportunities for individuals interested in a career in the horticultural industry. Each employee receives individualized training on different types of plants and plant nurturing. In addition, employees develop customer service skills through interaction with customers on a daily basis.

Facility Based Job Opportunities
Habilitation, Inc.'s Workshop and Warehouse offer a variety of job opportunities including small and large parts assembly, bulk mailing preparation, shredding, and other tasks procured from businesses within the community. All employees receive individualized training designed to improve skills necessary to advance in other vocational areas by performing vital job tasks.

Mobile Work Force
Habilitation, Inc.'s mobile work force offers individuals the ability to gain skills in a number of different business and industrial settings. The mobile work force consists of up to 10 employees that perform tasks on a business's premises. Tasks vary depending on location.

. This free door-to-door service provides rides to essential medical appointment or critical service need, such as obtaining a photo ID or grocery shopping. Individuals must live in Allegheny County and meet the program criteria. Appointments requested to be made in advance.

Provides opportunities for individuals with disabilities to learn and practice work skills in a competitive integrated employment facility. Participants may be involved in the program on a transitional or ongoing basis, and are paid for their work. The nature of the work and the types of disabilities represented in the workforce vary widely by program.

Individuals with mental and intellectual disabilities who are in the Haven Program use their job readiness skills to operate the 4 C's cafe in the Clinton County Community Center.

Pathways is a community habilitation adult training facility where individuals with developmental disabilities (mental health and intellectual disabilities) development of personal and social skills, independence and self-esteem, communication skills, and health maintenance. Professionals engage clients using sensory stimulation, music therapy, exercise programs, and recreational activities such as picnics, bowling, and trips to local attractions.

CSG provides vocational programs for adults whose mental illness has impeded their emotional, social, economic and vocational development. Programs aid individuals in searching for jobs, refining interviewing skills and transitioning into a new job. They focus on working with each person in the setting most comfortable for the individual.

A Community Participation Supports agency that provides facility-based and community-based employment, training, and placement for developmentally disabled adults. The primary goals are to enable the individuals to develop natural supports in the community that could lead to employment in their areas of interest and to increase independence and productivity within their current setting.

The PA CareerLink is a one-stop job center that provides an array of employment and training services in a convenient, easily accessible location.

Services include job counseling, testing and assessment; resume preparation assistance, interview training and other prejob guidance services; job matching and referral; unemployment insurance and job registration; labor market and career information; information on financial aid for education and training; and referral for job training, transportation, child care, personal and financial counseling, health care and other human services resources in the community.

The OVR counselor, during face-to-face interviews, assists customers in selecting their choice of vocational goals, services and service providers. An Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) is developed, outlining a vocational objective, services, providers and responsibilities. Certain services are subject to a Financial Needs Test (FNT) and may require financial participation by the customer. Counseling and guidance, diagnostic services, assessments, information and referral, job development and placement, and personal services such as readers or sign language interpreters are provided at no cost to the individual. Also, by law OVR customers receiving Social Security benefits for their disability (SSI, SSDI) are exempt from OVR’s Financial Needs Test.
