The $1 Energy Fund Grant Program assists utility customers who meet income and payment eligibility guidelines with a $100-$500 grant applied directly to their utility bill. Program Dates: October 1 - November 29: open for services that are off or threat of termination only. December 2 - March 31: open for services that are off only. February 3 - February 28: open for services that are off or in threat of termination. To apply for Dollar Energy funds, the account holder must live in the home. The grant covers residential, single home or apartment service. "Cooking only", commercial, industrial or apartments with shared utility service are not eligible. Applicants can only receive one grant per utility, per program year (October 1st through September 28).

    The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) is a new VA program which provides assistance to very low-income Veterans and their families residing in or transitioning to permanent housing. SSVF affiliates provide a range of financial assistance and supportive services designed to promote housing stability. Financial assistance can include help with back rent, mortgage or utility payments for families struggling to remain in their homes. For veterans and their families who have lost their housing, SSVF will provide financial aid with rental and utility security deposits and initial rental payments. Support services can range from assistance with transportation; child care; linkage to medical care, behavioral healthcare and recovery services for veterans experiencing PTSD and other effects of combat; and other services to help the veterans and their family re-establish financial stability and self-sufficiency.

    The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) is a new VA program which provides assistance to very low-income Veterans and their families residing in or transitioning to permanent housing. SSVF affiliates provide a range of financial assistance and supportive services designed to promote housing stability. Financial assistance can include help with back rent, mortgage or utility payments for families struggling to remain in their homes. For veterans and their families who have lost their housing, SSVF will provide financial aid with rental and utility security deposits and initial rental payments. Support services can range from assistance with transportation; child care; linkage to medical care, behavioral healthcare and recovery services for veterans experiencing PTSD and other effects of combat; and other services to help the veterans and their family re-establish financial stability and self-sufficiency.

    USA Cares
    USA Cares provides financial and advocacy assistance to post 9/11 active duty US military service personnel, veterans and their families. They assist all branches of service and all ranks and components. They do not charge fees nor accept repayment and rely on donations from private citizens, businesses and foundations for all funding. Financial assistance is not given directly to service members or their families; instead, payments are made to mortgage lenders, utility companies, and other vendors. The objective is to reach families at the earliest stage of intervention to proactively prevent further financial distress. Typically, USA Cares provides assistance in four major areas:
    • Emergency Assistance - pays immediate, essential bills, including food and utility bills,
    • Housing Assistance – helps to stop and prevent evictions and foreclosures,
    • Combat Injured - pays basic expenses: mortgage/rent, food and home utilities which enables combat injured to receive treatment and be assured their family is taken care of,
    • Jobs Assistance – reduce unemployment among post-9/11 Veterans through job-seeker tools, open to all veterans, limited financial assistance.

Using a housing-first case management model, UESF provides services including housing acquisition and landlord negotiation, VA benefit assistance, mainstream benefits, legal assistance referrals, self-sufficiency education, and temporary financial assistance when needed.
