Preschool Program of Child Development
Provides preschool special education services for children ages 3 until they enter kindergarten. Children are screened and evaluated so that those identified can receive services in the best placement for them, whether it is at home, a caregiver's house, a preschool, or specialized preschool. If it is determined that the child would benefit from a structured preschool classroom, they arrange for placement in one of the contracted classrooms at the Infant Development Program in Clinton County.

Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit
Early Head Start
A free program for expectant mothers and families with infants and toddlers ages birth to 36 months who live in Northumberland County. Families enrolled in the home-based program participate in weekly home visits where information is provided for educational and developmental growth. To encourage social interaction, families are invited to attend the center twice a month where fun activities and a healthy snack are provided. Infants and toddlers in the program receive several health screenings within the first 45 days of enrollment, including vision, hearing and developmental screenings. Participants’ medical and dental visits are tracked by a licensed practical nurse (LPN) on staff. Expectant mothers are visited weekly in the home where lessons are provided on health, nutrition and child development topics. Each trimester during pregnancy, an LPN visits and discusses any concerns the pregnant mother may have. At birth, the baby then becomes enrolled in the Early Head Start program.

    Community Education Unit provides services to support Adult Basic and Literacy Education, such as General Education Development, English as a Second Language, Family literacy, and Adult Basic Education.

    Early Intervention Unit provides services for young children, three years to school age, who have developmental delays such as: learning deficiencies, physical disabilities, vision and /or hearing problems, speech and language difficulties and behavioral or emotional disabilities.

    Human Resources Services provides district consortium efforts and initiatives including emergency substitute training and placement, and the coordination of an online recruitment/application system.

    Instructional Services offers programs to upgrade professional skills of teachers and administrators, improve school curriculum, and distribute and recommend instructional materials.

    Special Education Services provides special education services to students age 2-21 years, parents and school districts with a focus on individual student progress and successful transition to life after school.
