The 21st Century Cohort 11 out-of-school time program will provide academic enrichment opportunities to students in grades 1st to 5th from Benjamin Franklin & Lafayette Schools in the Uniontown Area School District. The students from these schools attend programming at the East End United Community Center on Monday through Thursday from 3 pm to 5:30 pm. The other site is at the Waynesburg Central Elementary School grades 1st to 5th from the Central Greene School District. Students attend this program Monday through Thursday from 3:15 pm to 5:45 pm. Both programs follow the school district schedule based on delays, holidays, in-services, etc. There will also be a five-week summer school program that starts in mid-June and ends in late July that will run from 9 am to 1 pm. Finally, both programs receive free dinners through the Child and Adult Food Care Program and Summer Food Service Program.

Provides public school special education services and supports for preschool children with special needs. If a child is found eligible for services, an Individualized Education Program is developed to provide support for the child's participation in typical preschool activities. Supports include training and consultation for the staff working with the child in their early learning program, special instruction, and related therapies. The program provides the supports to enable a child to attend an early learning program, but does not provide the early learning program unless the child's needs can only be met in a preschool special education environment.

Provides a Liaison for families that are experiencing a lack of permanent housing and who would like their children to remain in their school district/preschool of origin; or are experiencing difficulties in enrolling their children in the school district where they are temporarily staying.

Special Education Project of PIN works to protect the rights of children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral disorders in the educational system. The program monitors the Philadelphia School District to make sure it is fulfilling its legal obligation to provide both an education and appropriate services to children who have been determined to have special needs and, as a result, have an Individualized Education Program. In addition, the Philadelphia Office of Mental Health (OMH) goes into the public schools to provide support to children in crisis and training for parents, advocates and professionals about the special education rights of children under local, state and federal law.

Provides monthly supplemental food for families and individuals in need who reside in the Souderton Area School District. Food is distributed through a pick-up window in the parking lot of Keystone Opportunity Center.

Offers program to help create stable homes and break the cycle of poverty through budget coaching, job training, financial assistance, and whole-family support. Program is school-based in the East Penn and Parkland School Districts and is available 7:00am to 6:00pm. Full-time and part-time options are available. Registration required. Fees vary.

Provides free access to healthy snacks and meals.

Department conducts inspections. These include licensure and certification surveys, follow-up surveys and complaint investigations. Operates and maintains the federally mandated Nurse Aide Registry.

Coordinates and monitors the vaccine preventable disease programs including information and quality assurance for contractors. Provides technical assistance to schools etc. Provides and/or links people to immunization services. Ensures public health issues related to immunization are identified and addressed.

Investigates all reports of sexually transmitted diseases. Conducts follow-up investigation of contacts to cases of an STD. Provides STD educational programs to schools, parolees and others upon request. Consults with medical professionals regarding testing and treatment of STD's. Provides quality assurance of all contractors of STD services.

Conducts tobacco use prevention education programs, assists local communities through the Tobacco-Free Coalitions, works with tobacco contractors & sub-contractors, coordinates Synar Surveys, and conducts school surveys.

Provides educational materials and raises awareness of asthma, oral health, and arthritis issues through educational programs in local communities and schools, and exercise and nutrition information. Offers important health messages on building strong bones, promoting good oral health, and asthma management.

In-Home Detention
Located in Philadelphia, youth in this program receive 22 to 25 hours of community based activities per week as well as intensive supervision. Activities are designed to develop competencies, provide education, foster victim awareness and protect the community utilizing BARJ (Balanced And Restorative Justice) principles. Activities include sessions focusing on drug and alcohol issues, sexual health, career development, community resources, and skill development. Additionally, all youth participate in activities coordinated in conjunction with Philadelphia organizations and grassroots efforts. Youth workers monitor school attendance and curfew, and report adjustment and recommendations back to the court.

School Based Social Services
Services are delivered by Resource Specialists in schools located in the Central Region of the Philadelphia School District. Short term case management, brief intervention, and crisis stabilization supports are provided. Youth are identified by school

Provides leadership and professional development workshops to all 12 GEAR UP high schools in the district. Each school is partnered with a corporation whose employees participate in the monthly workshops.

Designed to meet state and national standards for reading, writing, and oral language development. Skills are taught in the context of 10 related, sequential themes. Lesson plans help teachers make each book a launching pad for teaching vocabulary, building comprehension, and developing phonemic awareness, phonics, and oral language skills. Blueprint themes, Blueprint author studies, center applications, and skill cards build children's content knowledge and develop literacy skills through engaging, rich, and meaningful learning.

Vantage Academy is a comprehensive alternative education program for students in grades 6 through 12 formed through a collaborative effort between the Souderton Area School District in Souderton, PA and Lakeside Educational Network. It is designed to provide students who are experiencing difficulty in the regular school setting with the academic, counseling and behavioral support necessary to overcome their school obstacles and achieve success. The primary goal of this program is a staged transition for students to return back to their home school after they successfully complete their educational goals while at Vantage.

Mainstay is a mobile program with qualified educators and counselors that provides social work services to school districts and students with specific needs who require additional support to better function within their schools, homes and communities. Mainstay provides individualized academic and therapeutic support services on a mobile basis to school age children,consisting of a phased process of interventions, addressing needs such as truancy, drop out prevention, emotional and behavioral difficulties, placement prevention, transition from placement and parent consultation and support. Services are for high school students and also any adults in the community at large interested in such things as reading help, tutoring or GED instruction.

Offers psychoeducational classes/programs that are accepted by most area District Justices, School Districts and Youth Aid Panels as part of an alternative sentencing diversion program.

With a particular expertise in Autism Spectrum Disorders & ADHD, our staff pride themselves on integrating the individuals strengths with the areas of weakness that will impact their college and/or career readiness.

Offers emergency assistance for individuals and families who are in need of help with rent/mortgage to prevent eviction or utilities/heating fuel. Utilities include electricity, oil, gas, coal, firewood, sewer and water. The maximum amount of each assistance payment is one month's utility usage, one minimum delivery of oil/coal/firewood, one month's rent or one mortgage payment.

Homeless Children and Youth Initiative identifies students experiencing homelessness and implements strategies to address barriers to enrollment, attendance and participation in school activities. Students experiencing homelessness are entitled under law to

- Immediate enrollment, even if they lack records
- Special assistance for the Allentown School District Homeless Liaison

Family Centers seek to ensure the healthy growth and development of children by coordinating a wide variety of support services for families in the communities in which they live.

Family Development Specialist certified in parent education home visits meet groups of parent sand provide assessments and support to parents for their children from pregnancy through kindergarten. They facilitate access to needed services and coordinate case management services.

One-day experience where students get to see vehicles/mobile equipment units and interact directly with the professionals who operate these vehicles in the course of their work. A one-day career day. Students interact face-to-face with a range of professionals from the healthcare sector. Students learn what the careers are like and educational pathways needed for success. Designed for 9th to 12th grades.

Dental Internship:
The dental internship program has been modeled after NTIEC's long-standing hospital internship program, whereas students will participate for three hours a day, once a week for approximately five-seven weeks during the fall and spring semesters. This unique opportunity will provide students with an up front and close look at the various jobs available in dentistry. They will observe and shadow dentists, dental assistants, dental hygienists, lab technicians and the office staff. Intership designed for 10th to 12th grades.

Hospital Internship:
Students visit area hospitals for two to three hours once a week for six-seven weeks during the fall or spring semester. Students focus on one key department during each visit and participate in a department tour, meet the staff, learn about the work and discuss educational requirements for success in the particular staff specialty. Energy and Oilfield Summer Experience:
A three-day summer experience held in August. Students will spend time learning about the endless career opportunities available to them in NEPA. Students will participate in classroom instruction and field trips with representatives of Lackawanna College School of Petroleum & Natural and local energy companies. Designed for students in 9th to 12th grades.

Healthcare Career Summer Experience:
A week-long summer experience held in July. Students explore a range of career options and learn about important issues in health. Students interact with healthcare professionals and receive a hands-on experience. Designed for students in 8th to 12th grades.

Students at Chief Shikellamy Elementary School have weekend food bags available to them via the school district. Students can register with the district for this program and can collect for not only for themselves but also for any other child living in their home between the ages of 3 and 18 years. Students are given bags of non-perishable type foods every Friday for consumption on the weekends. Registration paperwork is sent home with students around the first or second week of each school year.

After school programs are held in collaboration with participating school districts in Northumberland County. School faculty and staff provide student referrals for programming. Programming provides supervised care and activities to build skills for literacy. Assistance with homework is also provided. This supportive environment aims to foster social and emotional skills that will help students build self confidence in academics at school. There is no cost for this program.

Before and after school child care for Shikellamy School District students, in Kindergarten through 6th grades. Service is offered at Beck Elementary School in Sunbury and Priestley Elementary School in Northumberland. Students can use their time to complete homework or participate in physical activity, games and crafts. Hours of care are Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 8:30am and 2:30pm to 6:00pm.
