Recreation program formally known as community habilitation helps people with disabilities have fun and be involved in the community while improving social skills. Our fun activities include: overnight, weekend or week-long excursions to places like mountain resorts, the seashore, campgrounds or theme parks, day-trips to nearby cities, fairs and festivals and tourist attractions, group outings to sporting events, movies, concerts, or dinner theaters, outdoor experiences like camping, boating, hiking, ball games, swimming or miniature golf, and weekly and monthly activity nights at The Arc, including games, dinners, crafts, and theme parties. The Arc of Chester County's Camp Safari is a special place for children between age four to 11 to experience outdoor activities regardless of physical challenges. Teen Camp is open to teens age 12 to 18. Both camps offer: new experiences and fun with peers, activities including fishing, canoeing, swimming, sports, crafts, and nature study, and respite for family members and caregivers. Each camper has a one-on-one teen volunteer supporter in addition to trained camp staff.

Sam's Program
In addition to full privilege memberships, each Tuesday evening from October through April, children in 1st -7th grade are transported by YMCA buses to the YMCA for physical activities, fellowship, mentoring and Christian education. At the conclusion of the evening's activities these children are then transported back to their neighborhoods.

During the summer months these children are transported to the YMCA's Sam's Summer Day Camp site for eight full weeks of camping activities. This program involves weekly trips to various points of interest as well as special theme weeks such as Character Counts Camp, Music Camp, 4-H Camp, Olympic Camp, Wet and Wild Camp, Adventure Week, Good News Camp and Sports Week. These activities are provided to the children at no charge, due to the generosity of the YMCA's Partners with Youth donors.

The YMCA also offers membership privileges to 13-19 year-old underprivileged youth. Income verification is required for program participation.

Easterseals Camp Growing Green is a week-long (Sunday-Friday) overnight camp held in the Poconos for children (age 10 and older) and adults with disabilities. Growing Green campers gain environmental awareness and learn organic gardening in specially designed gardens while also enjoying traditional camp activities like hiking, canoeing, sports, arts & crafts, campfires and swimming. An optional employment track is available for campers who want to explore work experiences.

Overnight camp provides incredible opportunities for growth and development in a safe, nurturing environment staffed by Easterseals trained counselors. You can rest easy knowing your family member is in the care of compassionate, qualified individuals. Reconnecting with old friends, making new ones and getting along in a group are situations that require campers to practice communication skills, flexibility, cooperation and compromise. These critical skills are essential to success in school and at work. Living away from family members and with peers helps campers discover their inner resources and builds self-esteem.

    Camp Cadet is a summer camp for Pennsylvania youth between the ages of 12 to 15. The camp is held at various locations throughout the State and staffed by Troopers, local police officers and many other volunteers. The goal of Camp Cadet is to introduce participants to the diverse criminal justice system and establish a positive relationship with law enforcement personnel.

    Camp Cadet is open to all youth and is structured similar to training at the police academy. The camp focuses on discipline, self-esteem, teamwork, drug and alcohol education, violence prevention and many other issues facing todayÂ?s youth.

    Camp Cadet is a non-profit organization. Meals, lodging and programs are provided at no cost to the applicant. Camps are usually funded by various fund raisers and business and community donations. Some Camps may charge a small application fee to cover administration costs.
