Comprehensive guardianship services for individuals who have been determined by the Court to be incapacitated and no longer able to make their own life decisions. Serves clients through a private guardianship program as well as through a contract with the Allegheny County Mental Health/Intellectual Disability Offices. Duties include but are not limited to: monitoring home and medical care and coordinating medical care with physicians, case managers and other medical professionals. Guardianship of Estate duties include: managing all financial responsibilities, paying monthly bills, working with social security to ensure benefits and working with financial advisors to assist the clients with money management. Additionally, The Guardianship Unit can serve as Power of Attorney for individuals that have chosen Jewish Family and Community Services to serve as their POA.

Intensive in-home services available for eligible persons who are at a nursing home level of care and have sufficient informal support. - Caregiver Support Program - Casework services and financial assistance with caregiving expenses for persons caring for individuals who are over 60 and are functionally dependent (requiring constant supervision) or between the ages of 18-59 with chronic dementia. Also offers assistance for grandparents who are the primary caregivers for grandchildren under the age of 18.
