The York county Master Gardeners provide horticulture information and education to home gardeners based on proven research specific to the local climate, soils and plants. Master gardeners answer gardening questions and diagnosis insect and plant problems via the garden hotline, Monday through Friday 9:00 am - 12:30 pm. Teach community and urban gardening to youth and adults. Maintain the gardens at john Rudy Park where gardeners can learn about annuals, perennials, vegetables and herbs for York county. Offer the annual "garden wise" educational conference - a one-day event with workshops and speakers. Speakers bureau provides speakers on garden topics for community groups. Teach composting. Nutrition education and food resource management education for the resource stressed SNAP-ED eligible audience. Offers families and youth with limited resources FREE research-based lessons designed to help them develop the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve a healthful diet on a limited budget.

Eligibility: SNAP-ED eligible folks frequent- work ready programs, food pantries, etc. Program is limited to parents/caregivers with children under the age of 18 who are eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits (previously known as food stamps), WIC, public assistance, free/reduced school meals. They need to be < 185% of poverty level. Low-income youth are also eligible.
Hours: Office Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm
Our physical office site is NOT our programming site. We partner with community members and use their facilities in the neighborhoods were potential clients live.
