This is a service that supports the family in learning strategies to meet the developmental needs of their child with disabilities. The teachers come most frequently to the home, but may also visit daycare or a community location where the child and family spends time. Visits are usually an hour long at a time agreed upon by the family and teacher. Communication, problem solving and motor development are encouraged through individualized play activities. A few times during the year, the home visitors will offer a play group that is open to all of the children on their caseload and their families. This playgroup provides an opportunity for children and families to socialize with each other.
