Abington Police Athletic League (PAL)
Police Athletic League - Youth Programs - Abington
The Abington Police Athletic League (PAL) is a non-profit 501C3 organization, organized to prevent juvenile crime and violence by providing programs encompassing education, training and resources to our children. PAL’s existence is a statement to these young people that the community cares about them. Our PAL utilizes community-based programs such as activities, mentorship, and community service opportunities to keep children and families involved in a pro-active situation where law enforcement officers and volunteers work together displaying a positive image through good roll models. PAL staff supervise healthy, community-oriented, educational, cultural, social and athletic activities that provide the groundwork for the development of happy, healthy community members. PAL centers offer structured and personal guidance in a safe, friendly environment. PAL offers a wide range of physical and intellectual activities addressing the various needs of Abington’s youth. While Abington PAL is sponsored through the Abington Township Police Department, PAL receives no direct funding from them. As such, PAL is dependent on volunteer support from local, community-oriented individuals, business leaders, corporations and foundations. Our PAL utilizes a recreation-oriented juvenile crime prevention program that relies heavily upon athletics and recreational activities to help kids achieve success. Safe, positive, fun and rewarding programs offering a supportive teamwork environment is the key to the PAL success story that builds happy, well adjusted youth and safer communities.

    Manor College
    Manor College - Athletic Program
Athletically, Manor College offers four intercollegiate programs: Men’s and Women’s Soccer and Men’s and Women’s Basketball. Manor has a very strong and successful tradition in all four programs. In 2008, Manor College joined the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association). This move will help Manor College gain broader recognition and allow us to compete for National Championships. This is the first step in the right direction with more to come, including adding more intercollegiate athletic programs to help Manor College grow. Academically, my goal is to have all student-athletes hold a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Now, Manor athletics has Academic coaches for our four athletic teams, and our student-athletes will be required to take greater responsibility for their academic performance. If you are a student-athlete who is driven to succeed in academics, and is willing to work hard for your education, then Manor College is the school for you. My job as the Athletic Director and a coach, is to help you become a great student and an accomplished athlete. Always put academics first in your collegiate careers, and I promise, I’ll be there when you reach your ultimate goal --- your graduation. It is a very exciting time for the Athletic program at Manor College as we move in a new direction towards achieving even greater success. While our future may be full of new challenges for our athletes, coaches, and enthusiastic fans, we are confident that we have the talent, support, drive and enthusiasm to surpass all our goals.

TRR provides health and healing for military injured, active duty and veterans through whitewater therapeutic kayaking and other forms of adventure paddling. We are an independent 501-3c organization made up of local paddlers not affiliated with any government organization. What we do is physically demanding and socially supportive. The adventure begins by learning the basics in a calm river or heated indoor YMCA pool. From there, we head out to the creeks, streams, and rivers for group paddling trips. We adapt instruction and gear to individual injuries and challenges with a goal of forming a supportive community that enjoys sharing knowledge of paddling skills.

Variety -The Children's Charity - Golf Buddies Program
Variety – The Children’s Charity and the Philadelphia Section of the PGA of America collaborated to create the “Buddy Program” to enhance the lives of children with developmental and physical disabilities through the game of golf. Its goal is to create a buddy system between a PGA professional and a child with disabilities. Its main objective is to establish a meaningful friendship between both parties as the child is learning the fundamentals of golf while elevating the child’s self-esteem. The Golf Buddy Program requires the parent(s) to show a strong commitment to the child’s learning process. Once paired with a PGA Professional, it is the responsibility of the parent to arrange the child’s golf lessons unless the professional expresses that he/she would rather take on this responsibility. The Buddy Program will provide the required golfing equipment. All children and professionals enrolled in the program shall be registered and noted for future mailings and group activities through the offices of the Philadelphia Section of the PGA and Variety – The Children’s Charity.
