Active Aging - Farmer's Market Nutrition Voucher
Checks must be redeemed by November 30, 2018. Checks can only be redeemed at participating farmer’s markets. Checks cannot be used in a grocery store.Checks must be redeemed in full; no change can be given. The only time another person can pick up checks for the recipient is if the recipient has completed the required proxy form. Recipient’s proof of age and residence must accompany proxy form. Checks can only be received and used by the eligible senior. Only fruits and vegetables grown in Pennsylvania or purchased by the participating farmer’s market directly from a farmer in a neighboring state can be purchased with the checks. Checks must not be signed or endorsed prior to redeeming at participating farmer’s markets.

Through March 19, about 3,300 PA drives have been cancelled resulting in 9,300 fewer blood donations in PA - We understand why people may be hesitant to come out for a blood drive, but want to reassure the public that we are taking additional precautions to ensure the safety of our donors and staff: - We are checking the temperature of staff and donors before entering a drive to make sure they are healthy. - We have hand sanitizer for use before entering the drive, as well as throughout the donation process. - We are spacing beds, where possible, to follow social distancing practices between blood donors

Army Emergency Relief (AER) is a non-profit, charitable organization independent of, but closely associated with the United States Army. Army Emergency Relief helps US Army soldiers and their dependents, by providing emergency aid, in the form of either a direct grant (a cash gift, not to be repaid) or an interest-free loan, and by giving college scholarships to children of soldiers. Under Army regulations, officers must recommend whether their soldiers deserve aid. Emergency Aid Help with emergency financial needs for:

Loans up to $1000 do not require command recommendation, and there is no limit to the amount of funds Army Emergency Relief may authorize. Officers are responsible for ensuring that their soldiers repay AER loans. Scholarships Army Emergency Relief maintains two scholarship programs – the Spouse Education Assistance Program and the MG James Ursano Scholarship Program for dependent children. Both scholarships provide financial assistance for students who are pursuing their first undergraduate degree. Scholarship applications are accepted from 1 January to 1 May each year for assistance for the following academic year. Scholarship award amounts are not guaranteed and vary each year based on the total number of applicants in each program and budget amount allotted to the scholarship programs. Each senior can only receive one set of four vouchers a year. A representative can pick up vouchers for an eligible senior as long as they have a signed and completed proxy form. The representative must bring some form of ID. Anyone with Power of Attorney must also have a proxy form completed and signed when picking up vouchers for eligible senior. In collaboration with Area Agency on Aging, the vouchers are distributed to eligible seniors statewide. A person is not eligible if he/she resides in a nursing home, convent or residential facility where meals are prepared. The eligible senior receives four $5 vouchers that can only be redeemed at a local farmers stand who is a participant of the program. Only Pennsylvania grown fresh fruits and vegetables can be bought with the vouchers; baked goods, apple cider, dairy products, jams, and meats are not allowable. The eligible senior receives four $5 vouchers that can only be redeemed at a local farmers stand who is a participant of the program. Only Pennsylvania grown fresh fruits and vegetables can be bought with the vouchers; baked goods, apple cider, dairy products, jams, and meats are not allowable. Each senior can only receive one set of four vouchers a year. A representative can pick up vouchers for an eligible senior as long as they have a signed and completed proxy form. The representative must bring some form of ID. Anyone with Power of Attorney must also have a proxy form completed and signed when picking up vouchers for eligible senior. A husband/wife must have the proxy form completed and signed when picking up vouchers for spouse.
