The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank knows learning doesn’t end when school lets out; neither does a child’s need for healthy, nutritious food. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) allows the Food Bank to partner with churches, community organizations and public parks to provide free, nutritious meals and snacks to children during the summer months. The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a Federal program that helps supplement the diets of low-income persons including the elderly, by providing them with emergency food and nutrition assistance. Distributes TEFAP allocations to five food pantries located in Mansfield, Westfield, Wellsboro, Millerton and Tioga. TEFAP recipients are required to sign a Self Declaration of Need form that confirms their financial need based upon total household income. No income verification is required and no person can be turned away who demonstrates food insufficiency. Each person or family is allowed to make one visit each month to the food pantry closest to their home.

The Food Bank charges approximately 19 cents per pound to cover expenses. Food is not for resale, nor given directly to individuals except for very specific program.
