The health bureau's three main functions are to assess and monitor the population's health status, develop public policies to maintain and promote health and assure that the population has access to public health services. Clinics provide immunizations, STD/HIV testing, pregnancy testing, access to breast/prostate cancer screenings, and monitoring of chronic diseases. Emergency Preparedness Division educates individuals and businesses on preparing for natural disasters, epidemics and/or other emergencies. Recruits and trains the medical reserve corps, a medical related volunteer corps that can be mobilized in response to disasters.



Maternal and Child Health services include free dental care for uninsured children attending Bethlehem school district and in-home asthma trigger assessments.



Chronic Disease and Health Education Programs focus on smoking prevention/cessation, injury prevention, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis.

Provides consultation, evaluation, and treatment for a variety of issues that can impact emotional health and well-being. Services and supporting programs offered at the Coatesville Medical Center include: Community Residential Care, Mental Health Outpatient Clinic, Inpatient Psychiatry, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder treatment, Substance Abuse Treatment Drug/Alcohol, Domiciliary Care, and a Work Restoration program. We also provide outreach to homeless veterans.The Social Work program also offers counseling to veterans with drug, alcohol, and emotional problems, to help veterans and their families understand and adjust to an illness or disability, to veterans and family members who want to prepare advance directives and durable powers of attorney for health care or finances, to help veterans and their families cope with terminal illness,and to family members about legal issues such as commitment and guardianship.

Program activities include, but are not limited to the following:
Adaptive modifications such as ramps, lifts, door widening, visual door bells, audio phones, visual phone signalers, etc. that will improve the ability of a person with disabilities to enter and exit the home.

Adaptive modifications, such as widening hallways, lowering the kitchen counters, enlarging bathrooms, or adding grab bars that will increase the ability of a person with disabilities to perform activities of daily living.

Other adaptive modifications that will enable a person with a disability to remain in the home and prevent institutionalization.
These funds may not be used to modify units owned or operated by public housing authorities or a facility licensed by DPW or Department of Health (DOH) for support services; for relocation expenses; for escrowing purposes to return the unit to its original condition.
