Lancaster County Office of the District Attorney - Lancaster County District Attorney
The District Attorney's office acts as a prosecuting service for the State. Attorneys prosecute persons charged with crimes by police and offer legal counsel to police departments only, not to private persons.

The District Attorney serves on the Prison Board and chairs the Victim/Witness Policy Board. There are 28 Assistant District Attorneys with special areas of concentration, such as sexual assault, white collar crime, child abuse and domestic violence.

In cooperation with state and local police, the District Attorney's Office administers the Lancaster County Drug Enforcement Task Force. The Task Force accepts and investigates reports of drug sales or trafficking through the use of a 24-hour toll-free hotline.

The District Attorney's Office formed the Child Abuse Cadre to train representatives from area police departments to become specialists in investigating child abuse cases.
