Our Licensed Psychiatrist and Physician Assistant, provides psychiatric evaluations and medication monitoring for children, adolescents, and adults who have psychiatric diagnoses. They complete a psychiatric evaluation on all new patients, including a complete social, medical, and psychiatric history, as well as a mental-status exam. This evaluation process helps our providers to develop a diagnostic picture of each client and provides a basis for treatment planning. The Department of Psychiatry consists of board certified/board eligible Psychiatrists under the leadership of the Chief Medical Officer. They provide:

- Comprehensive evaluation utilizing state of the art diagnostic tools including referrals to specialty consultants.
- Leadership to the multidisciplinary treatment teams in the formulation of the individual treatment plan.
- Treatment through prescribing and monitoring the effectiveness of the full range of available psychotropic medication.
- Participation in the development of the Community Support Plan (CSP) and monitoring the implementation of the recommendations to prepare patients for community living.

- Diagnosis of the acute or chronic medical conditions which, at times, may be the cause of the psychiatric symptoms.
- Close collaboration with the team members.
- Education to patients, families, hospital and community staff about complex medical conditions.

The Pharmacy Department consists of licensed Pharmacists, under the leadership of the Pharmacy Director, provide pharmaceutical services to all patients.

Blended/Intensive Casemanagement and Resource Coordination. Casemanagers serve children and adults who have a serious and persistent mental illness which interferes with their capacity to function in significant areas of daily life over a prolonged period of time.
Casemanagers employ a variety of individualized strategies to assist consumers in developing a more functional and qualitative lifestyle consistent with the goals established by the consumer. Utilizes the Child and Adolescent Service System Program (CASSP) to explain, offer, and assist with the delivery of Behavioral Health Services for children and their families. Upon a child being referred, intake worker will assist the child's parent/guardian in one of three ways; a parent self-referring their child to a provider of the Behavioral Health service being sought, an intake with a Northumberland County Behavioral Health caseworker for the purpose of intake worker referring the child to an agreed upon Behavioral Health service, or an interagency team meeting for the purpose of developing a Behavioral Health service plan for the child and subsequently referring the child to a provider.

Lehigh Valley Assertive Community Treatment
Multidisciplinary community treatment teams provide intensive, individual support to individuals diagnosed with a serious mental illness in both Lehigh and Northampton counties. Specific services include psychiatric assessment, medication education and monitoring, treatment for co-occurring disorders, behavioral therapy, psychosocial services and education.

A separate, intensive/blended case management unit provides continuity of care for those individuals with serious mental illness residing in Lehigh and Northampton counties who no longer require the intensive level of multidisciplinary assertive community treatment team services.

    Supports Coordination Organization
    Supports Coordination through WCSI's Support Coordination Organization (SCO) is a critical service that involves the primary functions of locating, coordinating, and monitoring services and supports for consumers of all ages with an Intellectual Disability or Autism Diagnosis with onset prior to the age of 22. Support Coordinators inform participants, their families and other caregivers about the use of unpaid, informal, generic, and specialized services and supports that are necessary to address the identified needs of the participant and to achieve the outcomes specified in the developed Individual Support Plan (ISP).
