Central Behavioral Health - Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
The goal of the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is to help individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness to recover hopes and dreams for self-determination, build the strengths and skills necessary, and take steps towards achieving these dreams. To achieve these goals, the IOP will empower participants to support their own recovery, cope more effectively with and manage their symptoms, prevent relapse, manage stress in healthy ways, and strengthen social relationships. The IOP will provide group therapy, as well as linkages to individual therapy and psychiatric services for medication management, with a focus on hope, empowerment, choice, and partnership. Specialized clinical resources for people who have experienced trauma and/or who have substance abuse disorders will address the particular needs of these participants. Specialized clinical resources for young adults and those with developmental disabilities will address these participants’ particular needs. The IOP will strive to create a collaborative network with participants, family members, case management services and other service providers.

Our Licensed Psychiatrist and Physician Assistant, provides psychiatric evaluations and medication monitoring for children, adolescents, and adults who have psychiatric diagnoses. They complete a psychiatric evaluation on all new patients, including a complete social, medical, and psychiatric history, as well as a mental-status exam. This evaluation process helps our providers to develop a diagnostic picture of each client and provides a basis for treatment planning. If medication is prescribed, all clients have follow-up medication-management appointments with their provider. Frequency of the follow-ups is based on needs of each client.

An additional component of Family Based is connecting the family to other child serving agencies to ensure continuity of care. Family Based is focused on developing natural supports for the family that may include friends, neighbors, coaches, and other community members. These natural supports enhance the level of care provided to the family after discharge from the Family Based program.
