The Arts of Self-Care / Professional Development
    The Arts of Self-Care is a 1.5-2hr seminar on arts-based self-care practices

Self-Care is an essential practice that needs to be emphasized more in human service provision. While devoted to the wellbeing of those we serve, devotion to the self is also indispensable and not to be ignored. Ultimately, how we treat ourselves impacts ourselves and those around us. To remediate this, BuildaBridge International offers an arts-based approach to self-care for professionals, caregivers, parents and more. The professional development session incorporates BuildaBridge’s Safe Spaces Model and self-care practices. The trauma-informed, strength-based and person-centered pedagogy of the Safe Spaces Model is the foundation of all BuildaBridge programming. Experiential learning through various mediums of art-making and dialogue will open participants up to accessible and achievable strategies to maintain self-care in and around challenging environments. Participants will develop personal strategies for self-care and tools to share within their communities and networks.

    Franklin County Veteran Affairs
Operation Save-A-Vet, Save-A-Pet is a program dedicated to helping Franklin County veterans with service-connected disabilities to lead happier, healthier, and more productive lives. This program benefits the veteran, the dog, and the community. Service dogs have proven to be highly valuable in assisting veterans with all types of disabilities, including, but not limited to, diabetes, seizure disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and traumatic brain injury. Our dogs come from local rescues and shelters, and a few select breeding lines, and are provided with highly specialized training and care. These dogs are then capable of serving veterans with a number of physical and psychological needs.

During the process of training service dogs, foster families may be utilized to house and care for the puppies. Selection of these foster families will remain at the sole discretion of the Franklin County Veterans Affairs Office. Foster families will be required to meet all ethical standards, policies, and regulations set forth by the program as well as the trainer.

All applications for a service dog will be reviewed by the Franklin County Office of Veterans Affairs. Equal consideration will be given to all qualified applicants. Verification of a service-connected disability will be made through the Philadelphia Regional Office.

    Pals For Life
Pals For Life - Read to Pet Pals
The Read to Pet Pal program helps children improve their literacy skills, confidence and self-esteem. Reading to our attentive pets provides a non-judgmental audience for the children. This program creates a friendly, positive learning environment.

Our program is unique in that it fosters multiple skill sets. The first is educational, where children will learn more about the PFL pets they will be reading to and how to appropriately interact with them. The second is literacy where they will improve their reading skills and boost confidence. The readers will rotate to several furry friends and will take turns reading to each of them. Additionally, the children learn social skills; patience as they wait their turn, refraining from interrupting, and listening to each other with respect. The animals provide a non-critical audience for the readers, and the program fosters a fun and affirming experience that builds confidence and makes reading fun.

Pals For Life - College Program
The Pals Go to College program helps students reduce stress and promotes relaxation during exams, as well as assisting students to cope with the pressures of college life all semester long. This program promotes joy, happiness and wellness.

Our pet visits give the students the opportunity to:

Hug, pet and play with pets. Students attend the visits in order to visit the PFL pets they have bonded with, and also because they miss their own pets at home.
    Make new friends
Get out of their rooms to enjoy the pets. This is especially important for those who are feeling depressed, experiencing anxiety, or not fitting in.
This program is offered to colleges, universities, sororities and fraternities, graduate schools, athletic departments, campus organizations, etc.
Programs can be held outdoors (weather permitting) or indoors.
Students look forward to the PFL pets visiting their campuses, and our PFL pets enjoy hanging out with the future of America.

    Pegasus Riding Academy
Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Academy, Inc. Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies
Pegasus Riding Academy, Inc. provides therapeutic riding services that are overseen by PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) instructors certified in therapeutic riding. Currently we work with riders ranging in ages from 18 months old (early intervention) to 85 years old (stroke recovery). We work with many different disabilities. We have riders here working on physical, intellectual, emotional & behavioral disabilities.

Therapeutic riding is unique and uses the movement of the horse to facilitate treatment. The horse and its movement closely resemble a human gait because it is three dimensional, repeatable and helps the brain and muscle groups to learn to work together. It also stimulates the rider’s brain and neurological system to help riders with developmental delays, socialization skills and disorders such as Autism.
