The Office of Drug and Alcohol Programs is committed to the prevention and treatment of substance abuse problems in Montgomery County. Services are delivered in partnership with qualified providers, and are guided by a philosophy that embraces hope, respect, and support for recovery.

The Montgomery County Drug and Alcohol Program provides a wide range of drug and alcohol services to county residents. These services fit into three main categories: Prevention, intervention, and treatment.

Each year approximately 6,000 county residents receive drug and alcohol awareness counseling (prevention). The program, operated from this rural facility outside West Chester, PA, provides a secluded therapeutic environment free from distraction. The facility helps individuals suffering from drug addiction or dependency. It is necessary for detoxification to be completed beforehand, if required. Eligibility is determined by the nature of problems and the desire for treatment. Treatment costs are calculated on a per diem basis and charge to the client is based on the ability to pay. Additional funds are received from state and local public agencies.

Residential Substance Abuse Treatment
NET's Wharton Center located at the Bridge Street site offers specialized treatment to men in a therapeutic residential setting. This treatment includes group psycho-education, psychotherapy, individual therapy, like skills training and daily 12-step meetings. Referrals are accepted from area hospitals, detoxification facilities and forensic programs

Medically Monitored Detoxification
NET's Kirkwood Detoxification Center in Delaware provides addiction assessment and medically monitored detoxification services to adults in Delaware. It is the only detoxification center in northern Delaware. Medical and clinical staff provide interventions toward abstinence on a 24-hour/7-day per week basis


Consumer Engagement and Transition (CET) Program
The NET Kirkwood Detoxification Center (KDC) Consumer Engagement and Treatment (CET) program facilitates early treatment engagement for consumers who have multiple detoxification admissions (three or more within a 12-month period).

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
The Bridge Street, Spring Garden and Frankford Avenue Counseling Centers located in Philadelphia offer IOP programs designed to treat co-occurring substance dependency and psychiatric disorders with specific attention to consumers' unique needs. Forensic programs support Forensic Intensive Recovery (FIR) and other stipulated consumers in meeting their criminal justice requirements. The women's IOP track addresses the specific needs of women. In addition, Latino IOP services are designed and delivered by Latino staff for the Spanish-speaking community. Both centers offer convenient morning, afternoon and evening treatment sessions. Services include group psycho-education and psychotherapy as well as individual counseling. Co-occurring mental health issues are treated by clinical and medical professionals. Medical needs are monitored by staff physicians. Spring Garden Counseling Center is an approved Assessment Site for Community Behavioral Health (CBH)
