    The Highland House is a state licensed halfway house of the Office of Drug and Alcohol Programs and the Pennsylvania Department of Health and is a CARF accredited program. This residential facility is designed for adult men who have completed a short-term drug/alcohol rehabilitation program and who are making the transition to a new environment, or who are planning to reenter an old environment that is not immediately available or advisable. The typical residential stay of the program is up to six months, but depends on the individual needs of those in treatment. We offer therapeutic support services for men in recovery who are seeking an environment that fosters individual discovery and growth, supports a collective well-being in a community setting, and shares a sense of experience, strength, and hope. We provide a variety of services. We offer individual and group counseling sessions, peer groups, relapse prevention techniques, life skills training, spirituality groups, and support for 12-step participation.

    All substance use disorder services are rendered through contracted SUD treatment service providers and the treatment related service providers. The service providers make arrangements for LCDAC funding assistance for qualified individuals who do not have insurance or the ability to pay for their substance use disorder treatment/treatment-related services. Funding assistance is available for all levels of care (detox, outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, halfway house, residential) as well as the identified treatment related services (case management/care coordination, MAT: methadone, suboxone, vivitrol). Funding assistance may also be available for individuals with a gambling use disorder.
    Prevention/education programs are available in all 16 school districts in Lancaster County. A variety of school and community-based services, including parent/family education, are provided by a network of seven non-profit organizations contracted with LCDAC.

    The Intake Unit functions as a gateway to alcohol/drug treatment for residents of Lehigh and Northampton Counties, including individuals involved in the criminal justice system. Assessment appointments can be made by phone or walk in and are usually scheduled within 72 hours. Upon completion of the assessment, individuals are referred to appropriate drug/alcohol treatment facilities. Some adults may qualify for intensive case management services. Also provides assessments for DUI offenders.

    The intake unit serves as the liaison to Student Assistance Teams in Northampton and Lehigh county school districts by following up and conducting evaluations of students who may be at risk for alcohol and/or drug abuse. Adolescent referrals also come from human services agencies, community agencies and concerned family members.
