Dental problems, such as pain and/or missing teeth can be tremendous barriers in seeking and obtaining employment. Studies have shown that after dental care, Veterans report significant improvement in perceived oral health, general health and overall self-esteem, thus, supporting the notion that dental care is an important aspect of the overall concept of homeless rehabilitation.

VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System's Comprehensive Vocational Services and Supported Employment helps Veterans get back to work. Staff will assess your abilities and interests, provide you with job-seeking skills and assist you with finding and maintaining employment. They will provide support as long as you need it.
This program gives priority to serious psychiatric issues.

VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System's Community Support Program/Mental Health Intensive Case Management Program (MHICM)works with veterans diagnosed with serious mental illness, helping them transition to community living and fostering independence and recovery.

MHICM advocates a philosophy of recovery and rehabilitation. Veterans enrolled in this program have an assigned intensive case manager who has frequent contact with them through regular visits. The case manager will facilitate their integration into the community using natural support systems, such as family, landlords and employers, whenever possible.

ACP's Veteran Mentoring Program connects Veterans Proteges with Corporate Mentors for a year-long mentorship. Paired based on the

Business and Professional Womenâs Foundation (BPW Foundation) was the first foundation dedicated to conducting research and providing information solely about working women. Since then, we have partnered with employers to create successful workplaces that embrace and practice diversity, equity and work-life balance convening employers, working women and policymakers to promote systemic workplace change.

Areas of research include women and non traditional jobs, Gen Y women and womenâs use and access to the internet. In 2007 BPW Foundation conducted the first research on women veteranâs transition to civilian careers and in 2010, hosted a National Summit, Joining Forces for Women Veterans to identify the challenges women veterans face. Through information gathered at the summit, the need for mentors was identified and in 2012 BPW Foundation launched Joining Forces for Women Veterans and Military Spouses Mentoring Plus a program recognized by the White House Joining Forces Military Family initiative.

Veterans and covered persons receive priority of service for Federally funded activities. The Local Veterans Employment Representative works with area employers to identify qualified veterans for their positions.

Final Salute meets the unique needs of homeless women Veterans by providing them with safe and suitable housing.

The H.O.M.E program provides transitional housing, on-site case management, food, clothing, transportation, child care subsidy/assistance, employment support and other essential supportive services to homeless women Veterans and their children.
S.A.F.E.: The purpose of S.A.F.E is to prevent homelessness by providing emergency financial assistance.
Stand Up: The Stand-Up for women vets program provides support for women veterans and military women in transition.

National Call Center for homeless veterans or veterans at-risk of homelessness. Callers will be connected to trained hotline staff who will conduct a brief screening to assess needs; homeless veterans will be connected with the Homeless Point of Contact at the nearest VA facility; family members and non-VA providers calling on behalf of a homeless Veteran will be provided with information regarding the homeless programs and services available; contact information will be requested so staff may follow-up.

Provide resource, referral and information for veterans, military members and their families in the following areas: Crisis Intervention, Legal, Financial, TRICARE, ID Cards and DEERS, Employment and Community Resources.

Offers emergency shelter, transitional housing, permanent supportive housing, homeless veteran employment services, and support for veterans involved in the legal system.

Offers programs to assist Veterans with crisis intervention, homelessness, employment, substance abuse, and more. Services are tailored for Veterans with any mental health needs including, but not limited to, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, bipolar disorder, and psychosis.

A program working with people experiencing homelessness having the express goal of moving to permanent housing. All programs are housed at 105 E King St. Within the program, they serve many populations, including but not restricted to Veterans through our Veterans’ Victory House, families and households through the Emergency Shelter program.

Each household is assigned a case manager who works with each individual or family to develop an Individualized Housing Plan, again with the ultimate goal of achieving permanent housing. The plan, worked on together with the family or individual includes, among other items, a budget and a potential referral to a rapid re-housing program. Emphasis may also be placed on education, employment and/or recovery needs.
