Post Disaster Damage Reporting Hotlines: Programs that establish hotlines, websites, or other mechanisms that people can utilize to report damage to their homes, businesses, private property, or nearby public property following a major disaster or large-scale emergency that disrupts the normal functioning of a community.
Post Disaster Food Services: Programs that meet the basic nutritional needs of relief workers and/or individuals and families whose homes have been made uninhabitable by a disaster or large-scale emergency and who have no other means of purchasing food and/or preparing a meal.
Disaster Related Clothing/Emergency Supplies: Programs that provide clothing, blankets, and other essentials immediately following a major disaster for people who have experienced substantial losses as a result of the incident.
Disaster Management Organizations: Organizations that coordinate services, personnel, and equipment during and immediately following a disaster.

Local electricity companies are working diligently to repair storm damage and restore power to communities. Some areas may not see full service restored for 5 to 7 days.


Free Water and Ice for FirstEnergy Customers
Free water and ice is available to Pennsylvania FirstEnergy customers who remain without power following severe storms on April 29. Customers can visit a participating Giant or Giant Eagle store to receive free water and ice. Please let the store know that you are a FirstEnergy customer without power at checkout.
Customers may redeem:
– TWO 1-gallon bottles of water OR ONE 24-pack of bottled water
– TWO 7-9-pound bags of ice OR ONE 20-25-pound bag of ice.
Giant Eagle and Kuhn’s Markets Offering 15% Discount to Impacted Areas
Giant Eagle and Kuhn’s Markets announced they will be offering a 15% discount on all purchases made in its Pittsburgh-area supermarkets on Sunday, May 4.
All Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Washington, Westmoreland, Greene, and Indiana County Giant Eagle and Market District locations will be participating, according to the release. Kuhn’s Pittsburgh locations include Ross, Banksville, Bellevue, McCandless and Allison Park.
Customers will either be given a coupon when they enter their store or when they get to a checkout at Giant Eagle. Shoppers who pick up curbside or receive home deliveries on Sunday will automatically get a discount. Kuhn’s Markets will require a loyalty card.
There are a few exclusions to the deal. Those include: Milk, alcohol, fuel, tobacco, cigarettes, gift cards, prescriptions, any other items prohibited by law and all third-party transactions including DoorDash, Uber Eats and Instacart.


Food Safety After Power Outage
If you are in a disaster or emergency, take steps to prevent illness from unsafe food. Refrigerated or frozen foods may not be safe to eat after a loss of power. Food that may have had contact with floodwater or storm water may also be unsafe to eat. Find out what you can do to keep food safe after an emergency or disaster.
Replacement SNAP Benefits and Replacement Food
If you get SNAP (food stamps) and you lost food during a power outage, fire, or
other household misfortune, tell the County Assistance Office right away!
You may qualify for replacement benefits. To get replacement SNAP Benefits:
- Contact your local County Assistance Office or the Statewide Customer Service
Center at 1-877-395-8930 (215-560-7226 in Philadelphia). - EXTENSION FOR REPORTING through May 30, 2025, for the counties affected by the April 29 – 30 storms. The extension covers the following counties ONLY: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Centre, Clearfield, Greene, Indiana, Mifflin, Washington, and Westmoreland.
The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is working to help people access food after losing their own during the power outage. Please visit their website to find a local food pantry or food distribution site.
