UPDATE: Philadelphia Police Department Uniforms
The Philadelphia Police Department has begun a phase-in of new midnight blue uniforms starting on October 1, 2025, replacing the powder blue uniforms worn since the 1970s.
“The new design reinforces professionalism, authority, and familiarity; qualities that the public expects from its officers,” the department said in a press release.
The new uniforms will be issued gradually, but officers will be required to wear them starting on January 1, 2026. Until then, officers will continue wearing the powder blue uniforms until they are issued the midnight blue uniforms.
