The Tax Claim Bureau is responsible for collecting delinquent real estate taxes for the 14 school districts and the 67 townships/boroughs located throughout Schuylkill County. All real estate taxes are considered delinquent if not paid by December 31st of the current year. Any unpaid taxes are returned to the Tax Claim Bureau during the month of January and are assessed with a filing fee of $50.00 per parcel returned. Interest begins to accrue in February at a rate of 9% annually. Acceptable forms of payment for delinquent taxes are cash, money order, cashier's check, certified check and bank check. No personal or business checks will be accepted. Payments can be made on-line. Tax lien certification is available for a fee of $15.00 per parcel.

    The Register of Wills office serves many purposes: probate of wills of deceased residents of Snyder County; appointment of estates of individuals without a will; and maintenance of records pertaining to estates. The Recorder of Deeds is responsible for the preservation of records relating to real property in the county, and as such is required to record and affix the Recorder of Deeds seal on all recorded deeds, mortgages, subdivision plans, and all other records relating to property ownership.     Election & Voter Registration
    The Elections/Voter Registration Office is committed to administering elections and all related activities for the County of Tioga and its political sub-divisions in compliance with the Federal and State statutes. Election and Voter Registration personnel provide guidance and information pertaining to election and voter registration procedures.

    The Elections/Voter Registration office provides mandated services and is responsible for registering voters and conducting Federal, State, County and local elections. In addition, we compile and maintain the registration of all voters for use at all elections; prepare and publish notices of elections and lists of offices for which candidates are to be nominated; accept and verify nomination petitions; prepare official and specimen ballots and administer the campaign expenditure act.
    The Elections/Voter Registration office is also responsible for establishing voting precincts and locations of polling places for each voting precinct; training of election officers to staff the polls on election day and preparing all election supplies to be used at the polls on election day.

    The Treasurer is the custodian of the County money. He or she collects real estate taxes, fees and receipts, and disburses all funds after authorization by the Commissioners. This department also issues licenses for hunting, fishing, dogs, and pistol permits only when used in conjunction with hunting and fishing. This office also issues licenses for small games of chance and bingo.

    The Prothonotary is the Chief Clerk and Record keeper for all filings related to Civil Cases. The Office is located in the County Courthouse and responsible for the filing, recording and processing of all Civil actions, Equity actions, Judgments, Federal and Local Tax Liens, City Liens, Family Court matters, Arbitrations, License Suspension Appeals, Appeals to Higher Court, and Applications for Passports. Also, we file and record all Judgments, Orders, Decrees of Court which includes sending out notice of such entry to parties and/or counsel in each case. We issue Writs and process many other legal documents. We review pleadings filed for compliance with the Pennsylvania Rules of Civil Procedure and Tioga County Rules of Court. Filing fees are collected for services rendered and turned over to the County and State which makes this office self-supporting at no cost to the taxpayers.
