- Learning Circles--Courses for prospective or early-stage entrepreneurs which teach the basics of starting a business and producing a business plan. - Lending Circles--Microloan program which provides loans and technical assistance to groups of 10-15 entrepreneurs in each circle, who collectively guarantee the loans, mitigating the risk of lending to borrowers with limited collateral and credit history. - Women's Business Center - In September 2015, we received an SBA grant to start a Women's Business Center. This center will expand on our current training programs as well as providing specific workshops, seminars and consulting for women-owned businesses. - Women's Leadership Circles--An innovative program designed for women leaders to cultivate transformational leadership to impact life, business, community -- especially our lowest income communities. - Social Enterprise Accelerator/Pitch Competition--highly regarded program for prospective social enterprises which provides business plan workshops, individual Technical Assistance, crowdfunding and mentorship. - Measure What Matters - Program for established businesses to start to measure their social and environmental performance with the same rigor that they measure the financial bottom line.

The US Small Business Administration's Pittsburgh District Office is responsible for the delivery of SBA’s many programs and services in western Pennsylvania. SERVICES AVAILABLE Financial assistance for new or existing businesses through guaranteed loans made by area bank and non-bank lenders. Free counseling advice and information on starting, better operating or expanding a small business through the Counselors to America’s Small Business (SCORE), Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) and Women’s Business Centers (WBC). They also conduct training events throughout the district - some require a nominal registration fee. Assistance to businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals is provided through the Business Development Program. A Women’s Business Ownership Representative is available to assist women business owners. Special loan programs are available for businesses involved in international trade.

WORC offers five loan products for the low-income borrower: Credit Builder Loans of $500 to $1,000 - Application Fee $25, Commitment Fee $25 - Interest Rate: Prime + 8% - Term up to one year (12 months) Direct Loans of $500 to $2,500 - Application Fee $50, Commitment Fee $50 - Interest Rate: Prime + 8% - Term up to two years (24 months) Credit Lines of up to $2,500 - Application Fee $50, Commitment Fee $50 - Interest Rate: Prime + 8% - Term up to two years (24 months) Small Business Loans of up to $10,000 (for existing business only) - Application Fee: $100 - Commitment Fee: 2% of Loan Amount - Interest Rate: Prime + 3-5% - Term: up to three years (36 months) Near Equity Loan Product - up to $35,000 - Application Fee - $400, Commitment Fee - 1% of Loan Amount - Interest Rate 6-8%; Participation Fee of up to 1% of annual gross sales - Term of five to seven years In addition, WORC is certified as an SBA Pre-qualification and Low Doc Agency packaging loans up to $250,000. Prequalification loans are limited to Minorities, Women, Veterans, and Disabled. Process results in a Pre-Approval letter from the SBA if approved. The applicant must pay a $500.00 loan-packaging fee to WORC under contact. WORC will complete the loan packaging and work with the applicant to present to area banks for funding. Additional fees apply when a bank for funding approves the business.
