Hope Partnership for Education - Adult Education Program
Hope Partnership Adult Education offerings span from preparation to pass the GED test to basic Adult Literacy Courses including for those who unable to read. In addition, Hope offers introductory computer instruction and utilizes online learning programs. These offerings are available to Hope family members and people in the neighborhood surrounding Hope Partnership. Monthly family education sessions focus on areas such as helping children succeed in math, reading, and other academic areas and workshops identified by the participants, such as parenting and health related issues.

*in person services currently suspended* SEAMAAC supports students and families who are having challenges with school attendance and performance. Case managers work with families to increase school engagement and connect them to community resources that will support the family. After school programs and summer programs focus on Hip Hop Heritage, cultural connections, and civic engagement.

SHINE After School Program of Luzerne County at Wilkes University
COVID-19 UPDATE: SHINE will continue to check in with its families and also provide resources and learning activities with daily updates through its Facebook Page and on it web page (www.wilkes.edu/shine). ________________________________________ SHINE, stands for Schools and Homes In Education. Wilkes University is SHINE’s higher education partner and serves as home for the program. The after-school centers operate four days a week. Students are recommended for the program by teachers or guidance counselors in their school. . Students at the after-school centers will benefit from SHINE’s project-based STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) curriculum to kindle excitement about learning. Educational programs, including homework assistance and STEAM-focused projects, are taught. SHINE of Luzerne County at Wilkes University serves students in the Hanover Area, Hazleton Area, Greater Nanticoke Area, Pittston Area, Wilkes-Barre Area and Wyoming Valley West school districts. SHINE locations: --Kistler Elementary, Wilkes Barre. --Heights Murrary Elementary,Wilkes Barre In the Wilkes-Barre Area School District, students in grades six through eight attend the WB Career and Technical Center. --State Street Elementary, Larksville- WVW --Pittston Intermediate Center , Students in the Pittston Area School District in grades five through eight attend SHINE at the Wilkes-Barre Career and Technical Center. --Lee Park Elementary School in the Hanover Area School District --Nanticoke Elementary School --Maple Manor Elementary School -has an Elementary and Middle School Program located in the building. In addition to academic programs, students receive a meal every day at the SHINE centers.In addition to the after-school program for students, monthly parenting activities and support services for families also are provided. SHINE’s Home Visitor program offers support and preparation for academic readiness through weekly home visits to pre-K and kindergarten students and their parents. SHINE also offers summer camp held at Wilkes University, offering hands-on science activities for students enrolled in the program.

Eligibility: The program operates nine centers and a Home Visiting Program. Locations are:State Street Elementary School, Heights-Murray Elementary School, Nanticoke Elementary School, Hanover Lee Park Elementary, Kistler Elementary, Pittston Intermediate School, Maple Manor Elementary School,and the middle school students attend the program at the Wilkes Barre Area Career and Technical Center or in Hazleton at the Maple Manor building.
Hours: School Calendar. Operates 4 days a week after school.
