- Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) home visiting, bereavement counseling, and referral services
- Lead Poisoning: Will provide lead testing, case management, nursing assessment, and arrangement of environmental inspection for children up to age six with a venous blood level at or above the level designated for case management by the Pa Dept. of Health. Provides general information on lead poisoning, including prevention, treatment and hazard reduction. Lead testing by appointment 3rd Thursday
- Investigation and control of reportable diseases. Educates patient regarding possible source, transmission, and prevention/control measures. Investigations include reportable communicable and non-communicable diseases and food and/or waterborne disease outbreaks
- Outbreak investigation of multiple cases of illness linked to a common source. Gathers information regarding symptoms, onset, activities, food and beverage history of ill versus non-ill persons. If threat of an outbreak that mass immunizations may prevent or limit, the center may quickly establish mass immunization sites among the non-immunized population.
- High risk infant follow-up program for families without health insurance, who have premature infants, or infants with congenital defects. Home assessment, health education, and growth and development monitoring are provided by a nurse.
- Information and referral services on Hepatitis C, AIDS, genetic disorders, cardiac, cleft palate, cystic fibrosis, phenylketonuria, spina bifida, sexually transmitted diseases. If there is a program at the state level for specific disorders, the staff will assist local residents in accessing these services.
- PKU follow-up provided to infants with elevated phenylalanine levels. Nurse will act as a liaison between the family and the PKU Treatment Center.
- Rabies prevention. All animal bites are reported to the State Health Center. Both victim and owner are contacted and informed of protocol for confinement of the animal. If there is a risk of rabies, a nurse will assess and educate the parties involved regarding the need for rabies prophylaxis.
- Community Education Programs on such topics as: AIDS, diabetes, health risk education, high blood pressure, and nutrition. Farm and fire safety education programs for health fairs and parochial schools, including Amish schools. Health and safety educational programs for day care and HeadStart staffs and WIC parents.
- Provides information on West Nile Virus.

Tuberculosis Screening
Maintains disease surveillance records and provides the following services to individuals with tuberculosis disease, tuberculous infection or who have a high risk for disease or infection:
  • Outpatient examination and diagnostic services
  • Antituberculosis medication for treatment and prevention of the disease
  • Hospitalizations for persons with tuberculosis who are very ill, require inpatient care, and have no source of payment
  • Laboratory services, if there is no source of payment
  • X-ray services, if there is no source of payment
  • In-field, directly observed therapy (DOT) and directly observed treatment of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) in order to insure the completion of recommended therapy
  • Examination and provision of treatment for LTBI for those who are close contacts of infectious cases
  • LTBI therapy for other high-risk tuberculosis skin test reactors
