Legal services are provided on a limited basis determined by established criteria of the Berks County Area Agency on Aging.

You have the right to make decisions about the kind of healthcare treatment you want. But what if you are physically unable to make those choices known? Your choices should be documented in an Advance Healthcare Directive so they are known to your family members and healthcare providers.

Provides consultation, evaluation, and treatment for a variety of issues that can impact emotional health and well-being. Services and supporting programs offered at the Coatesville Medical Center include: Community Residential Care, Mental Health Outpatient Clinic, Inpatient Psychiatry, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder treatment, Substance Abuse Treatment Drug/Alcohol, Domiciliary Care, and a Work Restoration program. We also provide outreach to homeless veterans.The Social Work program also offers counseling to veterans with drug, alcohol, and emotional problems, to help veterans and their families understand and adjust to an illness or disability, to veterans and family members who want to prepare advance directives and durable powers of attorney for health care or finances, to help veterans and their families cope with terminal illness,and to family members about legal issues such as commitment and guardianship.

Assists low-income clients with Wills, Living Wills, Advance Directives, Memoranda regarding Conduct of Funeral and Burial or Cremation, and Durable Power of Attorney matters.

Provides civil legal services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. Helps establish eligibility for benefit programs such as SSI, TANF, medical assistance, SNAP, and veterans compensation and pension; upgrades discharge characterizations; enforces custody and other family law rights; assists with shelter and supportive services; helps with replacing or correcting identity documents; and preserves private and subsidized housing eligibility.

Issues marriage licenses, handles adoptions and incapacitated filings, and presents first and final account files in the estate to the court.
Handle transactions dealing with real estate.
Probates the wills of all decedents and issues letters of administration and testamentary in each estate.

Power of Attorney, Rep Payee and Guardianship.

Provides free federal, state, and local income tax preparation; oversees the Pace prescription program, property tax/rent rebate program, energy assistance program, senior federal subsidized housing, and reduced vehicle registration program. Collects township federal census information and assists with living will forms and handicap placard forms. Also offers basic social security information, Millcreek recycling information, and hosts monthly health care screenings.
