General Psychiatric Counseling Services provides individual, group, family and couples psychiatric therapy.

Provides services targeting older adults, including counseling, case management, information and referral to other services and adult day care (Orwigsburg only). Provides benefits assistance to help people ensure that they are receiving all benefits for which they are eligible. Also provides prime time clubs, social clubs for older adults based in parish churches.

PROJECT HEARTH (Helping Elderly Adults Remain in Their Homes) provides senior adults who are healthy enough to remain independent in their homes with support services, including:
• Professional in-home counseling

• Errand and transportation services

• Light home repairs, and

• Friendly visits or phone calls



The IN-HOME COUNSELING component of PROJECT HEARTH addresses symptoms of depression and anxiety, grief and loss, complicated family dynamics, trauma, compulsive behaviors, family support around dementia and provides empathic support around loss of mobility, functioning and participation in society.

Through the TELEPHONE REASSURANCE PROGRAM participating older adults receive scheduled, weekday phone calls from caring, trained volunteers. These courtesy calls ensure the safety and well-being of senior residents throughout Montgomery County.

Offers professional counseling services in collaboration with Lancaster Bible College/ Capital Seminary. Clients are seen by a Marriage and Family Therapist or Counseling Intern from the Marriage and Family Therapy Program of Evangelical Seminary.

Helps older adults overcome the stresses of aging which may lead to an individual developing depression or other mental health challenges.

Offers care to older adults at home, in a protected facility or other settings. Services are also available for family members and caregivers. Senior services include counseling & support groups, caregiver support, geriatric care management, guardianship, Holocaust Survivor Services and information & referral; services of the Squirrel Hill Community Food Pantry.

Provides information and referral, service coordination, and educational programs for older adults living on their own or in assisted care. Geriatric specialist on staff meets clients by phone, at the agency, or at client homes for assessments. Fees apply. Medicare accepted.

Helps to connect seniors to others as a powerful means of reducing stress and preventing loneliness and depression. Offers a call specialist that calls them once a week to check-up on them and talk about any struggles they are having.

Helps county seniors to access the supports they need.

St. Mary Medical Center's partnership with Catholic Housing & Community Services has established the Family Caregiver Center to connect seniors to aging in place resources and services. Our guidance provides older adults and their families with choices, recommendations, and answers in times of uncertainity.
